#LoveNotLandfill clothing bank arrives at LDO

Give your old clothes a new lease of life with help from #LoveNotLandfill and London Designer Outlet (LDO).
No one likes the idea of old clothes ending up in a landfill site, that’s where #LoveNotLandfill come in with one clear aim of encouraging Londoners to never throw an unwanted item of clothing in the bin – it’s that simple.
As part of the campaign, we’re delighted to announce LDO has a #LoveNotLandfill clothing bank, located behind Superdry, at the entrance to LDO on Empire Way – it’s easy to drop off clothes at your convenience.
Drop off your unwanted clothes, damaged, faded or stained items – they’re all welcome in the clothing bank. The team from #LoveNotLandfill will find a second life for the garments, if they can’t be re-worn they can be recycled for industrial use – ensuring nothing goes to waste.
The LDO clothing bank is one with the fastest uptake, in its first two weeks on site the bank was full, having collected a massive 68kg of donations!
Did you know…
- 11 million items of clothing go to landfill in the UK every week*
- Based on each item being an average-sized shirt, that’s enough fabric to wrap around the circumference of the globe twice-over*
- 60% of people admitted to throwing clothes away in with general rubbish*
The #LoveNotLandfill campaign is run by the London Waste & Recycling Board as part of the EU Life-funded project, European Clothing Action Plan.
